NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is right around the corner! This will be my second official year, but since I did Camp NaNoWriMo in July, it will be my third experience.
Here are a few food items I like to have on hand for NaNoWriMo:
Coffee–I’m super excited to find decaf pumpkin spice this year!
Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger tea with homemade elderberry syrup–The raspberry tea is delicious with the elderberry syrup, and elderberries are a great immune system booster. The last thing you want is to get sick during NaNo.
Dried Apples–So much better than candy! Your body will thank you for keeping healthy snacks on hand. If I find the time between now and November, I will make my own (this tutorial is very similar to how I do it), and if I don’t have time, I will beg my step-mother for a few gallon size bags full of her caramel dehydrated apples.
Hard-Boiled Eggs–It’s just as easy to boil a dozen as it is to boil a couple, so make a pan full. These are packed with quick and easy protein. You can’t write if you’re starving.
Dinner Ingredients (prepared and frozen)–Most of my writing time is in the evening. With a family, I can’t skip cooking dinner, so I like to have easy ideas ready to go. This post will get you started.
Prepared Snack Box for the Kids–You don’t want to be up every few minutes getting your kids (or husband…) snacks or water. This is also fabulous if you need a quick something.
1 or 2 Boxes of Brownie Mix, Ice Cream, and Hot Fudge–I know, I know. I just went on and on about healthy food and blah, blah, blah, but these are essential. I will tell you why. Your family might start to feel a little neglected while you are writing like a crazy thing. Brownies whip up fast, taste great, and don’t require frosting. Top with some ice cream and hot fudge, and you are golden. They are the ultimate quick treat for your family. These are the best.
What are you favorite writing snacks/meals? Anything special you are prepping for NaNo?
Also looking at my food stocks, I have some wine (but only enough for a glass every few days), healthy seed bars, and I’ve been looking through healthy snack recipes too :)

Oooh–what are healthy seed bars? Do you have a recipe or do you buy them?

I bought them from a Chinese shop – bars of black and gold sesame seeds and honey. Yum!
