These are some of the most frequently asked questions about me and my work:
Updated 01/13/22
How do you pronounce your name?
This question comes up a lot. It rhymes with starry. (sh-are-ee)
How do you co-author a series?
I have no idea how other people go about it, but Jake and I prefer to say we are collaborating on Crown and Crest. The idea, the plot, and the characters belong to both of us. We talk, talk, talk about the book as much as we can. (It’s a lot of fun.) I do the actual writing, usually bugging him often with questions or things I want to go over. After I finish with a chapter or two, Jake sits down and reads it, and then we make changes together. If the new scenes spark ideas for later scenes or books in the series, we talk it out right then.
I like your other books, but I’m not sure I’m going to like Crown and Crest. Will there be romance in it?
You guys. I can’t write a book without romance. This one is slow burn, with lots of lovely tension, and I’m pretty confident you’re going to enjoy it. (Especially if you’re a fan of Silver & Orchids.)
There’s a lot of humor in the book, and it’s been really fun.
Jake helps me talk through plot snags all the time–he’s always been very involved in my process. The only difference is this time, we dreamed up the story together.
Will you write a spinoff series for The Riven Kingdoms?
Yep! Royal Fae of Rose Briar Woods is set in the same universe, and I’m hoping to write several more spinoffs that include characters from The Riven Kingdoms books!
Will there be any more Silver & Orchids books?
There was supposed to be a spinoff and a companion novel. I’m afraid it didn’t work out.
Do you do blog interviews?
Sure, I’d love to! Feel free to contact me.
Do you have advice for aspiring authors?
I get this question often, and I’m going to write a page on the topic very soon! In the meantime, I suggest you hop on over to the NaNoWriMo official website, find out when the next event is, and commit to writing your book. There’s all kinds of info and encouragement over there, so I know you’ll be in good hands.
Do you have an estimated release date for Sugar and Spice?

I noticed you brought Lionel back for the end of Elodie of the Sea, and he has a woman he speaks to. But I don’t see any listed novels or novelettes or anything that tells his story. Will you ever tell Lionel’s story and finish the stories of the main competitors from Pippa’s tournament?

Hi! It’s definitely possible. I purposely left it open. I do know his story, and I would be willing to write it if I get enough interest. Thank you for stopping by!

I just finished the Silver and Orchids series and must say, it’s one of my favorite series of all time. I miss it already! Greybrow Serpant was absolutely transporting. Would you ever consider adding to the series, and/or telling Sebastian’s story? I wondered what would happen to him and Adeline, and of course the Greybrows in the future.

I’m so glad to hear you liked it! I’m actually working on a companion novel to the Silver & Orchids books that takes place about ten years after Lily of the Desert.
I also plan to do a Silver & Orchids spin-off series in the future, though I’m not exactly sure when that will release.
Thank you for stopping by! (And sorry it took me so long to respond–I just saw your comment.)

Hi Shari,
Do you have more than 2 books planned for the River Kingdoms series?
I can’t wait to read the second book, but I’ll want to make myself wait if it will be a cliff hanger like the first one.
Thanks!

Hi Breanna!
I’m just finishing up the second book, and the series is looking like it’s going to end up being four books total. The second book will be out in August, the third in November, and then the fourth and final book will release in February.
Thank you for stopping by!
Shari :)

I just finished the silver & orchids series… in 3 days! I loved it. Specifically enjoyed the complexities of the character. Even the minor characters had good development. I loved the added aspects of morals. I’m a bit sad to see the end. Although I noticed there are endless possibilities of continuing stories set in the same world..I’d love to read what you could dream up for the twins… mishaps they’d get into that would make their parents adventure seem dull

Hi Angelique,
Sorry to reply late! I’m so happy you enjoyed the series. That group of characters was one of my favorites! Maybe someday I’ll be able to return to their world!
Thank you for reading!

Do you do signed copies of your book? I’m obsessed with the Riven Kingdom series and would love signed copies.
Also do you plan on doing a more fan orientated Facebook page?
Thanks so much!

Hi Samantha! I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying the series! I have an online book shop I open up occasionally for signed copies, and I do plan to open it after Age of Auroras releases, probably early to mid-February.
Also, I’m definitely open to the idea of doing a fan-oriented Facebook group. I’ll poll my readers in this next newsletter, and if there’s enough interest, I might get one going! Fun idea–thank you!
Thanks for dropping by!

Hi Miriam! I don’t have any swag right now. If you want to let me know what sort of items you have in mind, and for what series you’re specifically interested in, I can talk to my team about it and maybe offer something in the future.
Thanks for stopping by!

I was just reading “The Queen of Gold and Straw” and I was just wondering if there was going to be any further books about Rune or Rupunzel. I’m kind of left wondering what happens to them

Hi Cindy! Rune’s story continues in The Sorceress in Training, the third book in the series. :)
