2023 Reflections and Plans for 2024

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year! I usually write these late, but I’m feeling motivated right now, so here we go! It was our first year of full-time traveling, and we put in a lot of miles. Not only did we see a ton of new places, but I’m really happy with the things I accomplished while we explored.

Here’s my 2023 review:

  • I republished the first four books in the Obsidian Queen series under my main Tapscott name, retiring my Shannon Lynn Cook name.
  • I wrote and published four books: Queen of Aparia, The Disgraced Fae, The Vampire Hunter and the Heiress (with my husband, Jake Andrews), and Corsair’s Curse.
  • Podium produced and released audiobooks for the entire Obsidian Queen series.
  • We visited thirteen states, and I wrote in seven of them. A lot of the settings in my books this year were inspired by places we visited. (Especially Corsair’s Curse, which I partially worked on while we were in the Florida Keys. If you’re ever in the Keys, be sure to check out Bahia Honda State Park.)

A few 2023 book stats/facts:

  • My most popular book of the year, with the most sales and Kindle Unlimited page reads: Guild of Secrets (That’s crazy for a re-release! Thank you, you guys! Seriously, wow!)
  • My private Facebook reader group’s favorite release of the year: Queen of Aparia
  • My favorite project of the year: The Vampire Hunter and the Heiress (I love ALL my books, but this one was such a pleasure. It was a breeze to write, and I just love working with Jake.)

And here are my plans for 2024 (There’s always a chance I’ll go rogue, but this is the plan as of right now):

  • I plan to publish the remaining books in the Greybrow Brothers trilogy. I’m hoping to release the last one late spring/early summer. (If I can bump them up, I will, so definitely sign up for the newsletter to get updates.)
  • Jake and I have already started working on the second Chronicles of GHOST book, The Werewolf Hunter and the Apprentice, which we’ll release in September.
  • I would also like to publish the first book in my next urban fantasy series, an Obsidian Queen spinoff I’m calling Obsidian Knight. (Title pending.)
  • I’m working to get box sets made for all my complete series. The Royal Fae and Crown and Crest sets will release early in the year.

And that about covers it! Thank you so much for another great year! Here’s to another!

Wishing you the best,

Shari

    1. Hi Ashley! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the books. The Crown and Crest audio is with a publisher, and they decided not to continue the series. We debated publishing the rest ourselves, but without control over the first two books, we ultimately had to give up on the project for now. I’m so sorry. It’s still something we might be able to tackle in the future.

  1. Will we be getting Rapunzel’s book and more of that series as a whole, I love them so much and want to see where everyone is ending up.

    1. I really love the series and characters, too. It’s not on my schedule right now, but I might write more of the books down the road, especially if readers seem excited about it!

      Thank you for stopping by!
