Hi everyone and happy Friday!
I’m so excited to officially announce that my contemporary romances are heading to their own pen name, and I’m writing a new book in the 27 Ways series! This project has been in the planning stages for a while now. It started back in 2022 when we decided to move the Obsidian Queen series to my Tapscott name. Now that all my fantasy genres are grouped together, I can move the contemporary books to their own home.
I’m going to try to answer a few questions you might have below, but first, I’m prepping an ARC team for the re-releases and the upcoming 27 Ways book. If you’re interested in joining, you need to sign up for the new Shari Lynn Cook newsletter. That’s where I’ll be sending the details.

- 27 Ways to Mend His Broken Heart
July
- NEW 27 Recipes for Romance
November
- 10 Ways to Survive Christmas with Your Ex

Winter 2025

Let’s jump into a Q&A. Most of these are questions I anticipated people might ask. Feel free to leave more below.
Why did you decide to move your contemporary books to a new pen name?
It’s more organized, and it makes for a better browsing experience for readers on Amazon. When all the books are lumped together under the same name, you have fantasy books mixed with romcoms, and it’s messy. Take a look at the covers below. See how they don’t really get along?
Separating the two very different brands into separate pen names is like organizing a messy closet. They’re all my books, but they each have their own drawer.

Are you still going to write fantasy?
Yes, and I have several projects in the works. Jake and I are releasing our second Chronicles of GHOST book in September, and I’m working on a cozy paranormal romance.
You’ve released your YA books first. Are you going to focus on YA romance?
No. I plan to focus on adult closed-door romcoms. I was actually on the fence about rereleasing the YA books at all, but then I reread them and remembered how much I love them. So I wanted to move them over as well. Also, they’re on the upper age of YA. Glitter and Sparkle takes place during senior year, and the others in the series are all set after graduation. If the Summer Lasted Forever takes place the summer before Lacey’s senior year.
I already bought the books when you first published them. Have you changed them at all?
Nope. We updated the covers, but that’s pretty much it. Unless you just want a new copy in your Amazon library, there’s no reason to buy them again. HOWEVER, if you’ve already read them, I would be incredibly grateful if you’d leave a review or rating on the new books. Because Amazon won’t let you update a pen name on an existing book anymore, we had to completely republish, and we lost ALL the reviews in the rerelease process.
I think that’s about it! If you have more questions, ask me below. And don’t forget to sign up for the new newsletter and grab your copy of Little Lost Love Letter!
Wishing you the best,
Shari
