Hi everyone!
Jake decided to work while we’re home for the summer, which means the alarm goes off at 4:30 in the morning. Though that’s a bit early for even me, and I tend to be an early bird, I do enjoy getting a jumpstart on the day. It’s five thirty as I’m typing this, and it’s a big day because we have a Bookbub deal! The Crown and Crest box set was accepted for a $0.99 international promo, so the email will go out to readers in Australia, Canada, and the UK. I’ve decided to make the book $0.99 for my US and other readers as well, so this sale is for everyone.
In other news, I finished my final read-through of The Werewolf Hunter and the Apprentice yesterday and sent it to my editor for the proofread! We’re only about a week and a half away from the release. Today, I’m working on adding the front and back matter, and I’m going to email the designer about the paperback cover.
And a quick update on paperbacks: Many of you have emailed to ask why we’re behind on releasing the paperbacks for Greybrow Brothers and the contemporaries we recently moved. It’s because I’m looking for a new printer, and quite honestly, I haven’t had time to dive into it. Werewolf Hunter will be published through my original print-on-demand service because we need it to match Vampire Hunter, so the process will (hopefully) be quicker.
Why am I looking for a new printer? In Colorado, I’ve always received nice copies that were carefully packaged, but I had heard of people reporting quality issues in other areas. I experienced that myself when I needed a large order of books while we were in Florida last year, and more than half of them came damaged. I wasn’t happy, and I don’t like that many of you have probably received my paperbacks in that state either. No print-on-demand service is going to be perfect, but I would like to use one with better reviews.
And because I like lists, here are a few things I’m loving right now:
- Tea — Okay, I’ve always loved tea, but I’ve dived head-first into all things tea thanks to a future contemporary fantasy series one of my cover designers is currently working on for me. (You can take a sneak peek at the Pinterest board if you like! I don’t have any other details to share yet.) I’ve discovered I hang out in the cozy tea camp and not the “tea snob” camp, but I love learning about all of it.
- Harney and Son’s Heirloom Bartlett Pear — Speaking of tea, this is my favorite this week. It’s a white tea with a nice pear flavor and gentle spices. Every time I drink it, I think of Cassia from Riven Kingdoms. She didn’t love the pear when she first tried it, but maybe she’d like this tea?
- Ridgway State Park — We camped there last weekend, and though it was a short trip, it was so nice to get away. We had a campfire each night, roasted marshmallows, made yummy food, and took several nice walks. Our pups especially loved it. Even our cats enjoyed looking out the windows and taking in the new sights and smells.
And here’s a list of current book promos and sales:
- September 12 – 17th — Crown and Crest: The Complete Series — I talked about this one above, but here are the details. $0.99 in all Amazon stores (or close to it, depending on your country’s conversion rate). This is an international sale, so it’s available to everyone.
- Pre-order discount for The Werewolf Hunter and the Apprentice. Right now, it’s only $3.99, but it will go up to $4.99 after the release.
That’s all for today! Talk to you again next week.
Wishing you the best,
Shari
