Weekly Updates: October 18th

Happy Friday!

This is going to be a short blog post this week because I’ve been feeling under the weather, so I don’t have a lot to share. But…I did finish Blood and Buttercups yesterday!

It took me longer than I expected, partially because I was just wiped out this week. But I’m so pleased with it. I’m planning to start my edits next week. If everything goes as I hope, I should be through them by the end of the month. I’ll send it to my editor, and then I’ll begin writing Vampires and Violas, the second Vampire’s Guide to Gardening book, in November. My goal is to take off a significant amount of time for the holidays this year, since I haven’t given myself an actual vacation since last Christmas. So I’d like to have that first draft finished by Thanksgiving. We’ll see how it goes.

Things I’m loving this week:

Favorite Tea of the Week: I’ve tried Earl Grey a few times over the years, and I’ve always strongly disliked it. I had a sample of Earl Grey Supreme from Adagio that I’d been avoiding, but I went ahead and gave it a shot this week…and I loved it. This was also the first time I’ve tried it with half and half and a little vanilla syrup, and I believe that’s the key. (Which is sort of funny since I usually hate milk or cream in tea.) Next time, I’m going to steam some milk and try it as a London fog.

Microwave Omelets/Scrambles: It was that kind of week. Let me tell you, when you need food, and you have zero energy, these are a life saver. You just throw your favorite pre-prepped omelet add-ins into a small bowl or ramekin and crack in two eggs or three egg whites. Stir it up with a fork, cook it for a minute. Stir it again. Cook another 30 seconds. If it’s done, eat it. If it’s not, stir it again and cook it another 30 seconds. Just keep doing that. Then…you have a legitimate meal. Yeah, it was a microwave meal. But it’s food. (I usually like bell peppers, green onions, and ham, but this week, I just dumped ham in there and called it good.)
