2020 Reflections & Plans for 2021

I always seem to get to these reflection posts several weeks after everyone else. I don’t know about you, but right after Christmas, my brain is pretty much done. At that point, I’m still surrounded by a mess of boxes and gifts that don’t yet have a home. I’m happy to say that everything has returned to normal, and I’m ready to write this post!

Before I jumped in, I went back to read last year’s reflections. If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know 2018 and most of 2019 were rough. That began to turn around the middle of last year, and by New Year’s, I was feeling pretty good.

Everyone knows that things went crazy around late February of 2020, so I’m not going to go into that. Instead, I want to focus this reflection on the positive parts of the year. For me, they were plentiful, and I am extremely grateful.

This last year was the best in my author career. The Riven Kingdoms is officially my best-selling series ever (thank you so much for reading!). Its success made it financially possible for my husband to leave work mid-October so he could help me focus on the books. I cannot tell you what a blessing it has been. Between late October and mid-December, I wrote over a hundred thousand words, split between two projects.

I’ve never been able to hit those kinds of numbers before, and it was exhilarating. Being able to sit down and focus solely on my story with minimal distractions…wow, guys. It’s huge.

Here are my 2020 writing stats, as gathered from my writing app.

Books written: 6 (4 books, 2 novellas)

Books published: 5

Words written: 362,332

I’m so excited to see what this coming year brings! Here are my 2021 plans:

January

Age of Auroras, the last book in my Riven Kingdoms series, will release on the 29^th! (If you haven’t picked up your discounted pre-order, reserve your copy now.)

February

Little Lost Love Letter, my novella for the Love in the City multi-author box set, releases on the 16^th. (Again, if you haven’t pre-ordered, please go do that now! It’s only $0.99, and each order brings us closer to our publishing goal!)

Summer

Genevieve of Dragon Ridge, a companion novel to my Eldentimber series, will release sometime this season, though I don’t have an exact date or release strategy mapped out yet.

August

Knight from the Ashes, the first book of Crown and Crest, the fantasy romance series I’m writing with my husband, will release this month! Look for a sneak peek in the back of Age of Auroras!

November

Forged in Cursed Flames, the second book of Crown and Crest, will release this month.

I also plan to publish the fifth, and final, book in my Obsidian Queen series this year, though I don’t have an estimated release date yet.

A big thank you to you all for supporting me and my books. Even after all these years, it still makes me all fluttery when I think that people are out there reading my stories and connecting with my characters. You guys are my favorite.
