Life & Books Update – July 23, 2022

Good morning, everyone!

I hope your weekend is off to a great start. We’re getting closer with the house. We have painters coming today to work on the outside trim, and Jake and I are tackling a lot of touch-up paint inside. He’s also doing quite a bit of trim work, and I’m staring at boxes and trying to decide what’s worth storing for the year we’ll be traveling. If all goes as planned, the house will go up for sale by mid-August!

In book news, we’re about 30% of the way through Rise of the Phoenix King and right on schedule. I was worried it would be difficult to write in the middle of the move, and though it’s definitely challenging, it’s not impossible. I do have to take time to make sure I’m in the right place before I begin–it’s kind of a head game.

We’ve been managing a few others series as well. The new covers are just about complete for Silver & Orchids. I’d like to do another editing run on the books before I switch them over, just because it’s been about five years since I published those, and my process has changed with time.

We also ordered new Obsidian Queen covers. After months of deliberating, we have decided to bring the series into my family of Tapscott books. We’re doing a complete republish on the first four books and the novella, and the final book will be published after those release.

I’ll start working on both the Silver & Orchids and Obsidian Queen projects after we release Rise of the Phoenix King.

Also, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about The Disgraced Fae, Drake’s book in the Royal Fae of Rose Briar Woods series. The tentative plan is to release it in January. We’ll do a cover reveal and pre-order announcement a few weeks before it goes live. If you want to be notified, make sure to sign up for my newsletter.
